FAQ - Parking
1.   Do I have to book to park long term at the airport?

You do not need to book. Secure parking is available within the main carpark area. It is open for all commercial scheduled flights, and locked during the brief periods when not attended.

2.   How much does it cost to park at the airport?

Parking prices are available on the 'Facilities' page. Short term parking prices are for 24-hour periods up to 3 days. Long term parking applies to parking of 4 days and more.

3.   How do I pay for parking?

Take a ticket from the dispenser as you go into the main carpark. Park your car. Secure area parking is accessed from within the main carpark. You pay as you leave the carpark at the kiosk. The attendant will accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, Diners, and American Express cards.

4.   My flight is very early (4:30am check-in) and arrives back late (about 1am) - will the carpark be open?

Yes it will. The carpark is open and attended for all commercial scheduled flights.

5.   How do I get into the city?

The carpark attendants are equiped to assist with giving directions to common locations - especially for travelling out of the city (a map is available online). Maps are usually available to help - just ask at the Kiosk.

6.   How many car parks are there at the airport?

As at March 2007 there are 633 car parks in the main public carpark, including four reserved near the pedestrian access to the terminal building for people with disabilities.

7.   Can I drop passengers off in front of the terminal?

Yes you can.

There are "No Waiting" pick-up and drop-off parks signed for that purpose. However, you cannot leave the vehicle there or park. An unattended vehicle may be subject to a fine or tow away.

There are also a number of "P5" five-minute parking spaces, including one by the main arrival door reserved for persons with disabilities.

8.   I am a frequent user of the airport - can I get easy card access to parking?

Yes you can with a carparking 'Pre-Pay' proximity card. Apply by phoning (06)351 4415 during office hours. Conditions apply.

These cards are intended for frequent visitors, and must be kept in credit. The initial purchase is $300 credit, with top-ups of $100 or more when needed. Monthly statements keep track of usage and available credit.
