Approximately nine flights into Wellington were also diverted to Palmerston North this morning, disrupting the travel plans of many. A steady stream of buses has been bridging the link between Palmerston North and Wellington.

Fine weather brings action

13 January 2010
Although not the best of summers, there has been sufficient fine weather to allow work on the operational area.

Higgins undertake 'Benkelman Beam' testing on the aircraft apron (right) to check the pavement strength, and 'Super Seal' contractors apply a sealant to cracks in the aircraft parking apron (also right).

Airport operations manager Roy Bodell says the sealing is a routine maintenance work aimed at preventing water getting into the base of the pavement.

Last week contractors cut bulk hay from the operational area (lower right).

Mr Bodell said 102 truck loads were carted from the airport.
